Types of Steel Pipe

• Cast Iron Pipe – A cast iron pipe is a metal pipe made by melting scrap iron and metal and casting it in a mold. It usually carries sewage and waste water but is also used for venting and the transportation of drinking water.
• Galvanized Pipe – Galvanized steel is often used for pipes that will be exposed to harsh conditions like saltwater or marine use. This material features a traditional carbon steel with a zinc coating, which helps resist rust and corrosion.
• Threaded and Coupled Pipe – A pipe coupling is any fitting or device used to join two or more pipes in such a way that continuity is maintained between them. Most pipe installations require that several lengths of pipe be joined together or cut to facilitate changes in direction and crossing of obstacles, threaded pipe makes this possible.
• Black Pipe – For most gas line plumbing applications, black steel pipe is most commonly used.
• PST – The pipe sized tube is used commonly in hand rails and other applications since it is non-pressure tested. The pipe sized tube can be used in any non-pressure tested applications and is less expensive than pressure tested pipe.

At C Henry Steel we have both seamless and welded steel pipe for sale. While seamless pipe is considered more reliable, especially in high pressure applications because there are no joints, welded pipe is less expensive.
